Defending champions Avatiu Nikao Eels have a perfect opportunity to extend their unbeaten run in the Rarotonga Club 15s competition today.

In round four competition, the side will take on minnows Ngatangiia/Matavera Dragons at Ngatangiia Field in Muri.

Dragons are making a comeback in the weekly competition and have no big names at their disposal, but are still putting on a good challenge against the giants.

Last week, the side almost pulled off a major upset but went down fighting to former champions Takuvaine Reds 19-23.

In their opening two rounds, the Dragons drew with Tupapa Panthers before going down to the Titikaveka Bulls.

Eels endured a slow start to the season with a draw against the Reds, but managed to find momentum, especially after the 60-9 win against the Bulls last week.

In their other match, Eels defeated the Cowboys 32-11.

While Dragons will be hoping to cause a major upset at home, all eyes will be on the Reds versus the Cowboys match today.

The Bond Store match of the round at the Happy Valley Field is expected to be a fiery encounter with both teams eyeing a win to remain in the run for the semi-final berth.

The Vase Samania-coached Reds with only a loss from three matches so far will head into this clash as the top bet but the Cowboys will be out to spoil the party as they look to get their season campaign underway.

Cowboys are yet to register a win after losing to the Bulls, Eels and the Panthers last week.

In the other Senior A clash today, the undefeated Panthers will host the Bulls at Victoria Park.

Bulls after their humiliating defeat to Eels last week will be hoping for a redemption while the home side will be keen to keep their winning streak going with yet another win in the competition.

The Senior A matches will kick off at 4pm.
