Proud parents, siblings, friends, teachers and student leaders warmly welcomed the team at the Rarotonga International Airport.
After losing their opening two games and winning their last two matches, the team made it through to the bowl final.
The team took out the match 33-12 and were very proud of their achievement.
College principal Tania Morgan said she was stoked with the team’s results and efforts but recognised that this trip was more than just about rugby itself.
“This is a stepping stone for us. This is an opportunity to set the foundation for development of rugby within our school,” she said.
Morgan said the purpose of this trip was to further equip leadership skills in the team and profile the young men as role models for the younger boys of Tereora College.
“We hope the participation of the team will inspire the younger boys at school to see a pathway for them to aspire to.”.
The tournament, which had 12 teams competing, showcased a number of talents from high school rugby teams in the Pacific and the USA.
And the Tereora rugby team’s initial goal of exposing the local talent was a success.
