Newcomers Kangahua and Goo Fam are enjoying a perfect start to their campaign in the Prime Foods Mixed Social Volleyball League competition.

The teams managed to secure wins in the opening two rounds to maintain an unbeaten run in the weekly league alongside contenders Hit and Miss, Nukz Power I and Kia Orana Salon.

Team and Nukz Power II are also undefeated with a win and a draw each.

Cook Islands Volleyball Federation president Hugh Graham is pleased with the progress of the teams especially the new ones in the 2017/18 season opening competition.

With round three matches to be played tonight, Graham expects another tough battle at the Bluesky Sports Arena in Nikao.

A total of 24 teams are taking part in the indoor competition, which will run for about 20 weeks.

Graham said the game times have changed to ensure an earlier finish to round three.

“Also due to the increase in teams, there will be an increase in the round robin games before the knockout format games,” he said.

“I wanted to acknowledge the request from teams asking for either earlier or later games. Whilst we will endeavour to accommodate their requests as best as we can, there will be occasions where this might not be possible, so we ask for their patience as we try to do the best for all teams.”

Meanwhile Graham is requesting teams owing registration fee to pay up their dues soon.

“To all those teams that opted for the installment plan, a friendly reminder that the full amount of $180 will need to be paid in full by round five games.  There will be no exceptions please.

“Once again, we are requesting for referees to assist with the increase in the number of games. We acknowledge the contributions from Team NPK (Hosea) for their help with refereeing last week.

“Finally a further reminder, we have food and drinks on sale each night so please support where you can as part of our fundraising efforts.”
