A Rarotonga businesswoman has opened her second hair salon business to give local and visiting customers another grooming option to choose from.

Businesswoman and hairdresser Sisi Short recently opened the Mana Salon Hairdressing and Beauty Room located at the centre of the “Golden Mile” strip of Muri, Ngatangiia.

“Just seeing the number of tourists around Muri it makes sense to have a hair dressing and beauty salon out this way… so I thought why not give it a go,” said Short.

“It’s better to get myself established out here.”

The Mana Salon offers everything to do with hair and specialises in hair colouring, cuts for men and ladies and hair extensions.

“We also have spa area which offers massages, manicures, pedicures and facials which will be opening in May,” said Short.

At a young age, Short took interest in hairdressing and opened a salon for 10 years in Epsom, Auckland before moving to Rarotonga with her family.

She opened her first hairdressing room “Top Shape” Salon in 1989 located in town which is still operating today.

She has employed hairdresser Chamindra Nuwarap from Sri Lanka to help run Mana Salon.

Nuwarap, who got into hair industry in 1998, has worked in the Maldives for eight years before returning to Sri Lanka in 2020 where he joined the TONY&GUY iconic hairdressing brand.

Nuwarap says he is “happy” to be on the island and excited to offer his hairdressing skills to clients.
