Silver for women’s 3-on-3 basketball

THE Cook Islands women’s three-on-three basketball team won the final medal of Team Cook Islands’ campaign at the 2019 Pacific Games, claiming silver in what was the inaugural event for the sport at the regional competition.

The team played Fiji in the gold medal final after strong outings in the first two days of competition.

The Cook Islanders gave it their all, but were unable to compete with the dominant Fijians, who managed to defend well and execute on offence.

The Fijians ran away with the match in the end, beating the Cook Islanders 20-9 to secure the gold medal.
