Catholics in Rarotonga observed Good Friday yesterday by praying the Stations of the Cross, mourning the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

On Good Friday, the St. Joseph’s Catholic parish started their walk carrying the cross in devotion to the suffering and death of Jesus.

They started at 4am walking from St. Joseph’s Cathedral Avarua and meeting several other groups from parishes around the island.

The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross, commemorate Jesus’ passion and death on the cross.

It consists of 14 stations, each depicting a significant moment leading to Jesus’ crucifixion and burial.
