In a testament to its commitment to nurturing talent and leadership, The Edgewater Resort and Spa recently held a graduation ceremony for 21 team members who successfully completed its 12-week Step Up Leadership Training Programme.

In a statement, the resort said the programme represented a collaborative vision led by general manager Melissa Gosselin and group human resource manager Taa Pera, in partnership with tutor Caroline Medway-Smith.

The intensive curriculum was designed to empower employees with the skills necessary for effective leadership and succession planning within the resort. Over the course of the programme, participants engaged in a variety of modules aimed at enhancing their professional capabilities.

The training covered key areas such as effective communication in the workplace, leadership styles, team motivation, and performance management. Specific topics included understanding roles as supervisors, handling complaints, promoting diversity and empathy, and strategic planning aligned with the resort's four pillars.

The programme also included practical assessments where participants applied their learning by writing and reporting incident reports, as well as conducting performance reviews using the GROW Model – a four-step system for setting and achieving goals.

“The graduation ceremony was a poignant moment for the resort, with direct managers and peers placing fragrant eis on graduates in recognition of their achievements,” the statement said.

“The event was further enriched by the presence of family members who witnessed the personal and professional growth of their loved ones.”

Gosselin expressed her pride in the graduates, “We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of these team members and are excited to see their future contributions as leaders in both our business and the community.”

The Step Up Leadership Training Programme is part of the resort’s strategic initiative to foster a culture of continuous improvement and leadership excellence.

“The successful completion of this programme by another cohort of team members marks a significant step forward in achieving these goals.”
