Giants locked in mixed touch battle

Another excellent afternoon for the Bluesky Mixed Touch competition saw Team ATT and Mangaia up first to battle it out at Nikao Field on Wednesday last week.

The young Team ATT came out firing and posted early points from some excellent drives, unsettling Mangaia.

The ATT youngsters continued to impress with further drives and some excellent stepping, but the experienced Mangaia team regrouped and fought their way back into the game by finding holes in the ATT defence, eventually taking the lead to win six touchdowns to three.

Continuing its winning form, Elegi managed to hold off a solid performance from Team Transport to win by two points, scoring eight touchdowns to Team Transport’s six.

Proving to be a serious contender for this season’s finals, Team Foodland continues its winning streak, piling on the points to win comfortably against healthy living campaigners Live Smart.

ICI Transformers had their hands full as they battled it out in a fast attacking game against a very competitive Aroa T Bags.

Both teams were keen to show off their speed in an even game but it was ICI who managed to win 4-3 over a determined Aroa.

The game of the night was between the much-fancied 007 and NukzPower.

It was an intense game as expected, with both teams coming out ready to play and hungry for the win.

Using all their skills, both teams threw everything at each other but neither could gain the upper hand, the game ending in a five-all draw.

Meanwhile, due to today’s league match between TKV Warriors and Avatiu Eels, the Bluesky Men’s Touch Competition will not be played and catch-up games will be played later in the week.

The women’s games will continue as scheduled.
