After three muster competitions, Cook Islands Touch Association president Daphne Brown said the teams looked ready for the 2017 season.
“It was an excellent turnout of mixed teams including players wanting to join the last friendly Touch Muster games,” Brown said. “It’s early days yet but, already, the open mixed is shaping up to be a close, tight and competitive competition. “
The match of the day during the final hit out was between teams Rehab and Team ATT.
Brown said Team Rehab, new to touch competition, arrived in full force, raring to go.
“They had their hands full defending a much younger and nippy Team ATT,” she said.
“However, Team Rehab under the guidance of their coach and national rep Suniela Tom steadily edged out their younger opponents winning their first muster match 6-4. Team ATT is already impressing and will be the team to watch during the season.”
Team Nukz Power went down to Mangaia 1-7.
Brown said Bluesky, Top Kopz and MFEM also had good runs in the final muster. On Monday, the open competitions will be held followed by the mixed competition on Wednesday.
