Thumping the Airport Jetz 8-3 in the feature match of the round in the men’s competition, Germinators were in an unstoppable form from the opening whistle.
Executing their set piece play to perfection, the side was once again in form to outmuscle what looked like a strong challenge from the Airport Jetz.
In the other men’s match, Quick Eze did not had to break any sweat after claiming a default win over Manatoa.
In the women’s match, Nukz Power played a solid game with each team member superbly handling the ball against 2Sharp.
Under the guidance of touch stalwart Tutai Ngametua, Nuks Power was able to set up tries and breaks for their speedsters.
National reps Jan Dawn Taia and Apii Vavia featured strongly in the team’s 7-2 win.
2Sharp was however missing their five metre specialist Julz Westrupp and young star Rima Browne.
The Bounty Hunters versus FBI match was a very close and one of the exciting games of the round.
Bounty Hunters scored a surprising two early tries in the first half of match to dominate on the scoresheet.
Leading the way for Bounty Hunters was Edith Nicholas who set up both tries.
However, with an excruciating effort, FBI through Nora Browne and Teiva Maui set up play on the five metre line to notch up the team’s first points.
FBI tightened their defence and caused some crucial handover at dummy half allowing Tiarn Brown to scurry down the sideline to level the score.
FBI made a tremendous late comeback to win 3-2.
In the other women match which was another close tussle between Skittles and M&M’s saw the former survive the battle, winning 3-2.
The mixed competition will be held this afternoon at Nikao Field.
