Cook Islands touch team Bulletz won the professional men’s division one crown in the Darwin Touch Rugby Tournament at Fannie Bay Racecourse on Friday night.

The side, which is formed around workmates and boys who have grown up together from the Cook Islands, overcame the Honkers 9-8 in a closely contested final.

Bulletz also had the services of a player who failed to make the cut in the national side to the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

Honkers were the favourites and went through to the grand final after a drop-off win in the semi-final against minor premiers Shambles. The Bulletz were placed fourth and had to create two upset wins in the semis and preliminary finals to make the showdown.
