Puaikura overcome Nikao

Nikao Sokattak premier men came out strong against Puaikura at Raemaru Park on Saturday, dominating the early minutes of the highly-anticipated premier men’s football clash.

The visitors capitalised on the opportunities they created and were up by 1-0 in the opening spell.

Sensing defeat, Puaikura regathered and gained momentum after striker Campbel Best levelled the match 1-all.

Puaikura maintained the momentum and kept pushing until Dwayne Tiputoa scored in the 38th minute to give them 2-1 lead.

Despite a valiant effort from Nikao, the home side managed to hold onto the lead and win the match 2-1.

The senior women’s division match between the two teams ended in a 2-all draw.

Nikao scored through Julz Westrupp and Velma Remuera while Coral Seath managed a brace for Puaikura.

On Thursday, the Titikaveka senior women fought a tough battle against Tupapa in a match which ended in a draw.

Titikaveka showed dominance on attack when they penetrated the Tupapa defensive line multiple times putting themselves in good positions to score but lacked in finishing.

The Tupapa Mararenga FC versus Tititkaveka match on Friday ended in a 1-1 draw.

Tupapa’s Apii Graham scored in the first half while Titikaveka equalised through Jedrick Engu.
