Between now and then, the sixteen teams will battle it out at the CIFA Complex and the Takitumu School grounds in Matavera for the right to play in the championship game.
Five days of competitive soccer in unpredictable weather conditions will feature four of the top men’s and women’s teams, pared down to just two, before the champion is crowned. Aitutaki, Atiu, Mangaia, Mauke and Mitiaro have all arrived in Rarotonga this week ahead of the championship. The teams are residing at their respective hostels.
Training and fine-tuning of the game plans has also kicked off in a hurry.
Aitutaki, Atiu, and Mitiaro face tough opponents on the opening day, going up against Rarotonga’s three districts Avarua, Puaikura and Takitumu, whilst Mangaia will play against Mauke to kickstart their campaign.
A huge crowd is expected at the CIFA Complex and the Takitumu school grounds during the championship.
