Despite some fierce competition through the afternoon, Kitelicious demonstrated their prowess on the water to retain their title as 2019 Corporate Oe Vaka champions in an exciting final.
The team clocked a time of 1 minute 00.02 seconds with Tumuora Crossfit in second in 1 min 2.94s and Hakuna Matata in 1 min 4.38s.
Raro Muscle rounded off the top four in 1 min 4.91s. The side looked a real threat in earlier races posting the fastest time of the day in 55.94s.
One of the top performances of the day was from The Money Team who took out the first in Reverse Final in 1 min 2.58s which was actually the second fastest finals time. It was an impressive from them as they had no registered paddlers in their crew.
Kitelicious once again took out best dressed, making an impressive effort with their body paint.
The tug of war once again provided awesome crowd entertainment and was fiercely contested, with the buff guys and girls from Tumuora Crossfit and Raro Muscle having a battle of the muscle, but the final saw a battle of the banks with BSP and ANZ in an impressive standoff. BSP led by manager David Street took the honours.
Organiser Eva Allsworth thanked the sponsors Vaiana’s, CITC, Heineken for their support of the annual event which raises funds for development of canoeing, and also the paddlers/volunteers who helped make the day a success.
