Well, alone that is except for the friends, supporters and well-wishers who periodically pass by on the road, yelling congratulations out their car windows and beeping their horns in celebration.
“George, you the man!” calls the driver of one car as it goes by. “Thank you my friend, thank you!” Maggie calls back.
With neither the incumbent Cook Islands Party or the opposition Democratic Party having gained enough seats to rule alone, Maggie is one of those holding the balance of power, along with the two winning independent candidates, Atiu MP Rose Brown and new Penrhyn MP Robert Tapaitau.
He won’t be drawn yet on which major party he’ll support however – that’s for his people to decide, says Maggie.
“It’s not my call – it’s the people of my village.
