Five seems to be the lucky number for Saturday’s festivities, with five local chefs and five New Zealand Olympic chefs set to host a five course dinner at the Islander Hotel tomorrow.
The courses will be prepared by Cook Islands chefs Sera Bale Talatoka, Luther Zainey, Simi Ravuaceva, Adrienne Clarke Ellis and Dayna Tuiravakai, in conjunction with some of the best chefs on the New Zealand International Olympic Culinary Team; Darren Wright, Graham Hawkes, Mark Sycamore, Ganeshedekar and Greg Piner.
Proceeds from the event will aid Cook Islands chefs in getting to the semi-finals of Global Chef in Guam in October 2017, the World Chefs International Congress in Kualar Lumpur in 2018 and the finals of Global Chefs Worldwide in Paris in 2019. These opportunities not only help develop the chefs’ skills but also place the Cook Islands on an international stage.
CICA says the dinner offers the local chefs a great opportunity to learn from some of the best.
“The association is looking forward to a fun evening, great food and entertainment and a great experience for our local chefs who will be assisting the team on the evening,” said CICA executive member, Jezebel Karika.
The gala dinner is set to be a memorable night, with a fashion show by Heihere Designs and Taa Sprays scheduled to wow the crowd.
