Strong line up for Miss Cook Islands title

Miss Cook Islands 2017 contestants were publicly introduced at the Miss Cook Islands launch on Wednesday night in Ngatipa in what many are saying is the strongest line up of contestants for the coveted title in many years. Support, success and enthusiasm were the key messages of Wednesday night’s Miss Cook Islands Association launch where 10 stunning young women vying for the Miss Cook Islands crown were publicly introduced.

 

Held at Ngatipa, the launch night drew an enthusiastic crowd who vocally showed their support as each of the 10 Miss Cook Islands contestants were introduced.

Each contestant formerly introduced themselves and declared, “I’m Miss Cook Islands!” and highlighted what is possibly the strongest line up of Miss Cook Islands contestants seen for some years.

In her opening address on the night, Miss Cook Islands Association president Dianna Clarke spoke of the importance of support, the successes of the previous Miss Cook Islands Association campaign as well as the international successes of Miss Cook Islands Natalia Short and Miss Earth Cook Islands Alannah Herman-Edgar.

She also spoke of the support given to the association by sponsors including diamond sponsors the Cook Islands government, platinum sponsor Bluesky, silver sponsor Air Rarotonga and the many supporting sponsors that make the Miss Cook Islands event happen. Also thanked for his support was New Zealand High Commissioner Peter Marshall for the use of Ngatipa for the launch.

It was also revealed that three main titles will be presented at the end of the pageant campaign – Miss Cook Islands, Miss International Cook Islands and Miss Earth Cook Islands.

The contestant crowned as Miss Cook Islands at the end of the pageant will represent the country at Miss World, while Miss International Cook Islands will represent the Cooks at a pageant in Japan and Miss Earth Cook Islands will travel to the Miss Earth pageant in China.

It was with much excitement and enthusiasm that the 10 Miss Cook Islands contestants were revealed. They are: Tatyana Vakatini, Teiva Maui, Silas Tuaputa, Alanna Smith, Georgia Short, Heleina Strickland, Nooroa Tuakeu, Moana Maoate, Ngapoko Bartrum and Mona Taio.

Profiles of each of the contestants will be rolling out through print media and online.
