The Cook Islands Family Welfare Association (CIFWA) has been excited about the arrival of New Zealand public health nurse Pauline Dennehy who is working at the organisation for the next 12 months as part of the New Zealand Volunteer Service Abroad programme.
From Levin in New Zealand, Dennehy is here with her husband Mike Tate who was a police officer in New Zealand. She says their time in Rarotonga has been “amazing” so far.
Her role at CIFWA over the next 12 months will be in an advisory capacity, aiming to strengthen sexual health education in schools across the country.
“(CIFWA) is already a well-established community organisation which is great, so I’m looking forward to helping where I can.”
As part of the new programme which will start next year, CITC Pharmacy in association with Kotex is proving young women with a ‘first period’ pack.
