Apii Niua on the remote island of Pukapuka raised $335 in support of Autism Awareness Day last week.

Principal of the school Anna Katoa said: “It was a great day for the school and community, creating more awareness and understanding on autism.”

The students brought out their creative side, designing hats, flowers and birds, and of course wore blue for the special day.

“The classes came up with different activities for their interpretations of the brain that affects the performance of whole body, Grade 3 class designed hats and flight of birds, the Early Childhood Entrants (ECE) produced flowers and so on, the show and tell day on autism was also well received.”
