A large crowd attended the 2019 Te Mire ‘Ura Seniors cultural dance competition at the National Auditorium on Thursday night.

The audience was treated to an exciting show filled with outstanding costumes and skilful dancing and showed its appreciation with lots of cheers, shouts and claps.

The night was compared by Papatua Papatua, a seven-times winner of the Dancer of the Year title.

Results for the Te Mire ‘Ura 2019 Senior competition are as follows.

Senior Female: 1st Overall - Hannalei McBride, 2nd Overall - Ambushia Mateariki, 3rd Equal Overall -Martha Strickland and 3rd Equal Overall - Janice Moekapiti. Consolation - Pativai Ngatuakana; Best Costume - Hannalei McBride; Best Slow Beat-  Hannalei McBride; Best Fast Beat - Hannalei McBride.

Senior Male: 1st Overall - Edward Tepake Nga, 2nd Overall - Tamaiva Mateariki, 3rd Overall - Munokoati Sam Nga. Consolation - Enua Heather; Consolation - Lucas Kamana. Best Costume - Tamaiva Mateariki; Best Slow Beat - Edward Tepake Nga; Best Fast Beat - Tamaiva Mateariki.
