Youth aged 14 to 17 years of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Cook Islands are preparing to attend the ‘For the Strength of Youth Conference’ being held at Kings College in Auckland, New Zealand in January 2017.

Youth from LDS Stakes or regions in Northland and Auckland as well as the Cook Islands will converge on Kings College in Otahuhu, for a five-day conference.  The young people will participate in fun activities, workshops and devotionals with LDS youth from other regions who share the same beliefs and standards.

The purpose of FSY (For the Strength of Youth) conference, is to strengthen youth in their commitment to live the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to be good citizens of their communities, by providing inspiring, edifying learning opportunities and wholesome social experiences.

This is achieved through a well-balanced social and spiritual programme led by exceptional role models, who encourage, assist and mentor youth in helping to bring together those important fundamental values, of faith, love, respect, service, and self-reliance.

Those attending from the Cook Islands include some of the youth from Mangaia and Aitutaki and from the three branches on Rarotonga, which include Avarua, Arorangi and Takitumu. They will be joined by one thousand other young men and young women at the FSY conference.
