Lady Bears were gunning for a win today against the winless Lady Bulldogs in a bid to take the top spot in the Cook Islands women’s rugby league competition.

However, the match has been cancelled.

In a statement Arorangi Bears said: "Apologies on behalf of Lady Bulldogs, due to several injuries they are unable to field a team."

The Bears are placed second with six points – two behind Lady Panthers – but have two games in hand. The Bears have the advantage over the Panthers in points differential tally.

Lady Bears will take on defending champions Lady Bulldogs at Raemaru Park in Arorangi at 5pm.

The Bulldogs are yet to register a win this season and will be going all out to upset the rising Bears.

Lady Bears made a strong start to round two competition after handing Lady Panthers their first loss of the season, 24-10, a fortnight ago. The Panthers suffered their second consecutive loss to Lady Eels 14-18 last week.

In the premier men’s match at Teimurimotia Park, the winless Titikaveka Bulldogs will host defending champions Tupapa Panthers at 5pm.

In the feature premier men’s match tomorrow, Avatiu Nikao Eels will be travelling to Arorangi to face the resurgent Bears at Raemaru Park.
