The saying winners are grinners was evident at St Joseph’s primary school yesterday with the House Blue overall sports champions students full of smiles proudly holding their coveted trophy.

Teacher Clara Tauira, who is also a member of the House Blue team, said she was proud of the students’ “good efforts” at the school’s competitive inter-house sports day which was held on August 26 at the National Stadium.

Tauira said the House Blue students are excited to be photographed with the flag and trophy and look forward to the special treats as a reward for their win.

Principal Savenaca Tukitoba was pleased to see the kids excited winning the trophy and noted that the House Blue teachers are all female and dedicated to the training of their kids for the annual sports day.

The principal and teachers would like to thank Minister George (Angene) Maggie for the special surprise ice block treats for the children – not just for the winning house but for the entire school! House Blue also won the trophy last year. For three years in a row from 2018 to 2020 House Red managed to hold onto the trophy so next year’s inter-house event is sure to be an interesting one.
