Heavy rain on Wednesday failed to deter netballers from taking the court for round two open grade matches in the Rarotonga Netball Club competition held at two venues.

Three games were held at the Tupapa Domes and Avatiu and Ngatangiia braved the weather and played in Avatiu.

Open 1 defending champions Arorangi maintained their unbeaten start with a 28-17 win over Takuvaine. In the Open 2 match, Takuvaine defeated Arorangi 23-5 to also maintain their winning start.

In the other Open 2 matches, undefeated Tupapa overcame Titikaveka 21-8 while Avatiu bounced back to beat Ngatangiia 22-12.

Netball Cook Islands secretary Tekura Moekaa said it was great to see both young and experienced players take the court.

The remaining round two matches will be held this Saturday.

Giants Titikaveka and Avatiu premier teams made a good start to their campaigns in round one last Saturday.

Titikaveka battled tooth and nail against Arorangi and escaped with a 48-42 win while Avatiu thumped Takuvaine 73-19. In the other premier match, Tupapa beat Ngatangiia 50-42.
