Letter: Selling seabed mining story

Dear Editor, Wednesday’s headline, “Prime Minister sells the United States a seabed mining story.”

Well, somebody sold the indigenous people of Nauru a phosphate mining story. And how did that work out?
And, somebody sold the citizens of Hawkes Bay a timber cutting story. And what role did the mountains of slash and logs clogging rivers have in the recent loss of people’s homes and livelihoods?
Might we be lucky and find out that “third time’s a charm”? Or are those who cannot learn from the bad sales jobs in our backyard doomed to have the same horrific ending as the first two stories that were sold?
