Letters: Avatiu football

I am a recent convert to soccer. I have followed the progress of the Avatiu Women’s soccer team at the OFC tournament in the Solomon Islands.

It disappoints me to find out that at least half of the Avatiu team is made up of several players from other clubs around the island and other overseas players.

Besides this, only three or four Avatiu players were part of the starting team. Where are all the players who played in the 2023 season when Avatiu won the Round Cup to qualify for the Oceania games? Have they all gone to other clubs?

Will the appointed coach play for Avatiu this year or go back to Black Panthers? It will be interesting to know of her loyalty?

Come on people, Avatiu club deserves better and was built by very passionate soccer people, not by biased family ties.

I know Avatiu have yet to win a game but they are doing ok. The way things are going I can’t see them winning their last game.
