LETTER: ‘Unlawful and misguided act’

LETTER: ‘Unlawful and misguided act’

Dear Editor, The phrase above the law describes a person who is exempt from following the rules or at least thinks he or she is exempt. Usually a person who is above the law has a very high government position or a lot of power.

And that pretty much describes senior government officials who are all taking part in stopping the legal importation of medicinal cannabis products when all the necessary criteria are met under the Ministry of Health Act 2013, Part 5,23-#7 upon passenger arrival in our nation.

And their participation in this unlawful and misguided act is having a plainly open connection to hindering, intimidating and frightening medicinal cannabis patients arriving in our country from taking their prescribed medicine to alleviate their physical and emotional pain.

What kind of person would take away medicine from a patient prescribed by their doctor in order for them to have a happy and healthy stay while in the Cook Islands?

They are unjustly taking a direct hand in trying to impose harsh penalties and convictions of ordinary medicinal cannabis patients by potentially dragging them before the Criminal Court for simply taking their medicine.

Sincerely,

Steve Boggs
