Letter: Milestone or millstone?

Monday’s newspaper reported on the call for MFEM to come clean on the questions surrounding the 17km of Te Mato Vai pipes that were dug up and replaced.

You quoted the Prime Minister as saying the TMV project was “a milestone in our country’s history”. More accurately a millstone around our collective necks and the biggest boondoggle in our country’s history.

Will To Tatou Vai (who inherited the TMV debacle) please disclose how many km of the old asbestos pipes (the ones we were told were the reason for the project in the first instance) are still in service and delivering water because of the continuing difficulty in ‘switching’ to the new pipes?

Wat-er disaster
