Letter: Delay in court hearing

Leave it to Norman George to be so inconvenienced from having to wait for a Family Court hearing called at short notice to hear an urgent application for protection orders for a Cook Islands woman.

This is the same Norman George who has been called out for years for his Court portrayals of rape and sexual abuse victims as having somehow invited the violence. Why should Norman have to wait in the sitting area outside the courtroom while a desperate Cook Islands woman sought refuge in a closed court hearing?

Norman noted that 50 people were kept waiting. The writer reckons Norman is a lot better at counting hundred-dollar bills that he is people. This anonymous writer was in the same waiting area. Maybe 20 people.

(Name and address supplied)

Norman George replies – I have a policy not to dignify cowardly letter writers, I have a reliable witness who did the count with me, your comments about my outstanding trial record reflects a person who is not bright enough to know!  Kindly get lost!
