Letter: Government loans to businesses

Dear Editor, The $7 million loaned out during the Covid pandemic by the Government for business start-ups and development needs to be fully accounted for to ensure all loans have been spent for the purpose intended (Cook Islands businesses receive $7 million in Government loans, Cook Islands News, July 27).

Besides that, are the businesses actually operating and what are their individual status?

Since Government is now a Bank, it should act like a Bank and carry out its banking responsibilities. The taxpayers look forward to a full public report on these loans given out during Covid and before the election.
