Matavera road work starts for hot mix seal
Infrastructure Cook Islands (ICI) have started work at Matavera to facilitate the upgrade of utility service lines before the hot mix tar seal. 23011717

Infrastructure Cook Islands (ICI) have started work at the Matavara Packing Shed main road area yesterday to facilitate prospective upgrades of utility service lines.

Working with Te Aponga Uira (TAU), To Tatou Vai (TTV) and Vodafone, hydrant and valve boxes will be raised and trenches installed to facilitate potential water, telecommunication and electricity service line connections, which will reduce the digging up of the road in future.

The trenching, service line work and repairs to the roadway system is in preparation for the hot mix asphalt seal which will be installed on the main road from the Matavera Packing Shed towards town - approximately 1.4km to Tupapa.

Motorists are asked to slow down and to take care when approaching the road works.

One lane operations and delays are to be expected in this area, for motorists using this stretch of road leave a little earlier than usual for your scheduled appointments.

By installing the trenches now we will reduce the risk of the road being dug up again to install services.
