Kind-hearted members of the community chipped in what they could which added up to over $600 cash for the Cook Islands Red Cross Society promoting and creating awareness for yesterday’s World First Aid Day.

The Red Cross Society set up a tent in front of the BCI (Bank of the Cook Islands) with staff members promoting First Aid and cooking and handing out free sausage sizzles to “give back to the community”.

Ty Connal from the Red Cross said the generous support from the members of the public “are very much appreciated”.

The donation will be used to help with the First Aiders at the upcoming Cook Islands Games.

A First Aid related quiz was also held on the day with an impressive 16 winners, they will be contacted on Monday by Red Cross to claim their prizes.

Cook Islands Red Cross Society also donated a First Aid kit to each Rarotonga school and have sent several first aid kits to its branches in the outer islands.
