Covid-19 ‘already’ under  control

Te Marae Ora Health secretary Bob Williams says Covid-19 is already under control.

Williams said there had been four cases on average per a week with some weeks having no active cases.

There were four Covid-19 active cases according to the Ministry of Health’s Covid update on March 31. The current active cases were recorded in Rarotonga alone.

According to TMO, 5630 people have recovered from the virus in Rarotonga and 669 people recovered in Aitutaki.

Cook Islands’ first Covid death was recorded in Aitutaki last year and Mauke recorded the country’s second Covid death earlier this year.

Covid-19 reinfections were only recorded in Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Atiu and Mauke. Williams had earlier said that since mid-January, the average number of people testing for Covid-19 on a daily basis was 50 and the numbers were decreasing
