Pacific Resort Rarotonga in the Cook Islands has announced its latest initiative aimed at uplifting the young local community through a dynamic culinary outreach programme with Titikaveka College.

In a statement, the Resort said the programme is led by the esteemed head chef Arana Edwards and his kitchen team.

Driven by a passion for nurturing talent and fostering community engagement, they recently hosted a small, practical class with Level 1 Hospitality students at Titikaveka College alongside chef Kelera Ratu.

Edwards said: “Our goal is to inspire our young Cook Island tamariki (children) with the endless possibilities within the hospitality industry and the opportunities available at home.”

Through this programme, Pacific Resort Rarotonga aims to create awareness of hospitality opportunities while empowering students.

“Pacific Resort Rarotonga continues its partnership with Titikaveka College, supporting community initiatives and empowering the local community,” the statement said.

“Through continuous support, Pacific Resort Rarotonga has sponsored Maori competitions and engaged in various collaborative efforts with Titikaveka College.”

Plans are underway to expand the culinary outreach programme to other local schools.

“Offering an hour of their time for a short class, the team at Pacific Resort Rarotonga focusing on teaching vital safe food handling, knife skills and more,” the Resort said.
