ANZ Bank handed five refurbished computers to Imanuela Akatemia yesterday to assist students with their computer classes.

Country Head Jason Murray said: “Our technology is regularly updated within the bank which replaces items such as PCs that remain in good working order.”

He said rather than putting these PCs in storage, their preference is to give them back to the community that can benefit from their use.

He said the Bank’s IT department rebuilds the computers and makes sure they are in good working order before they are given to the schools.

He said they have another 30 refurbished computers that would be donated to other schools throughout the year.

“We contribute to the community that we work and operate in. An important part of our business is to make sure that we are giving back where we can, this is just a small part of what we can do.”

ANZ had also donated computers to Apii St Joseph’s late last year.

School principal Pita Senibiakula said this would be the second time ANZ has donated computers to the school.

He said the computers would help the schools a lot, especially senior students with their research and typing of their documents.

He said they would resume computer classes next term and the donated computers will be a boost for the school. There are around 10 students for each computer session. He acknowledged ANZ bank for their support.
