Police are calling on the public to provide any information regarding Teau Moana Tangi Taraiti.

Media officer Travor Pitt said the offender who is 18 years old has breached bail conditions and is wanted in connection to unlawfully taking motorbikes.

He is alleged to have been on the run for nearly a week.

Pitt said police apprehended Taraiti on Tuesday night after nearly a week of being in contempt of court orders but the young man absconded from custody.

Police say there were three crashes and one arrest over the weekend.

Pitt said the first involved a car and motorbike at O’oa just before 10pm, with the motorcyclist leaving the scene on what Police suspect was an unlawfully taken bike. 

The second crash was called in after 10pm when a motorcyclist crashed at Avatiu.  The male driver was taken to hospital and a blood specimen was sought.  Police suspect the incident is alcohol-related. 

Yesterday morning, a 43 year old truck driver went into the sea at the Avarua harbour.

Police were called to the scene at 2.30am.  The driver was breathalyzed at 890mcg/L and subsequently arrested for being over the legal limit.  The truck was removed soon after the incident.

Police also attended to complaints involving drunkenness, and a reported assault of two people at the Lunar Bar. No arrests have been made yet.
