Top Touch teams maintain winning run

Round four of Vodafone Mixed Touch competition kicked off in much cooler conditions with competition leader ICI Transformers playing the young Team ATT.

ICI got straight into the game and scored the first point on the board in the match played at Nikao field on Wednesday last week. They quickly settled into a rhythm with good strong settles and once the ball reached the hands of the ICI speedsters a try was on.

Team ATT played with some good go forward but lacked patience at times to capitalise on their opportunities. Team ICI was too strong on attack with its speedsters Toru Mateariki, Peter Marsters and Juwann Terekia. ICI Transformers won 8-1.

The hard working Team Vodafone took on last year’s champions 007. Despite playing against one of the top Touch sides, Team Vodafone put on a valiant effort but went down fighting 1-6.

It was an intense game between newcomers Tuanga Taporoporo and the faster and more experienced Mangaia.

With lots of sideline support and encouragement, both teams worked hard on defence and attack. Mangaia scored couple of quick tries but this did not dampen the Tuanga Taporoporo spirits. They responded with good steady settles to the five metres led by Tekura Moeka’a.

But Mangaia was just too strong and faster winning 5 touch downs to 1. Tuanga Taporoporo continues to improve each week.

In the game of the night another new team BSP was impressive. They were playing a much faster and skilled team in KAPS.

Undaunted by the speed of KAPS, BSP played with some good drives with speedsters Matamanea executing their moves.

Throughout the game, KAPS relied on their speedy players. Speedster Samu Alafua gave KAPs an early 2-0 lead before BSP hit back with a good setup and pass from their girls to see them score a try in the corner.

KAPS eventually managed to claim a narrow 6-5 win. BSP should be very proud of its efforts.

The Vodafone Cook Islands men’s and women’s games will be played today at Nikao field. The women’s competition is a closely contested one. Want to keep up to date with the latest gambling news ? Read analytics on trusted sites and find out the best experts in the industry.
