Avatiu Nikao Eels are through to the Raro Cars Rugby League Competition final.

A dominant performance from the Eels in the semi-final on Saturday ensured they book their spot in this weekend’s final.

The Eels defeated Arorangi Bears 44-19 in a tough battle at the National Stadium in Nikao.

They will take on Tupapa Panthers in the premier men’s showdown this Saturday.

The Panthers made it through to the final after beating the Eels a week ago in the playoffs.

Heading into the semi-final against the Bears, Eels coach Clive Nicholas talked about their discipline problems that cost them the match against the Panthers.

The Eels were more disciplined against the Bears, avoiding infringements to give their opponent opportunities to dominate the match.

The Bears had their chances but the Eels defence rose to the occasion in what was probably the best defensive play of the season from them.

Meanwhile in the women’s final on Friday night, Lady Bulldogs defeated Lady Panthers 22-16 in a closely contested affair that was decided in extra time play. They were locked at 16-all at full time.
