Some outstanding times were achieved on the last day of the Air Rarotonga National Athletics Championships by some of the 100 metre sprinters.

Mangaia’s Patrick Tuara won the under 20 category in just 11.33 sec. Edmond Tupuna, in the under 14 category, was amazingly only a second behind him, in a time of 12.31 sec.

Edmond Tupuna of Rarotonga won the 400m under 16 category in a time of 1.02, just two seconds ahead of Mangaia’s Faarii Moekapiti. Beatrice Rongo put in a good performance in many track events and won the 400 metres under 16 race.

Under 16 boys long jump was taken by Atingakau Moekapiti of Mangaia in a distance of 5.05 metres.

The organisers would like to thank Air Rarotonga for their generous support.
