Things heating up on rugby field

This weekend things get serious on the rugby sevens field as the current club sevens heads into the quarters, semis and finals of tournament one of the CITC Rarotonga Club 7s.

After last weekends matches both pools will be in cross-over draw mode, so teams that win their quarter final match will progress to the cup stage and those that lose will have the opportunity to play-off for the plate prize.

Showing good form at last weeks Pool matches were Panthers abrasive Francis Smith and fleet-footed Conrad Piri, Eels national sevens reps Duane Gukisuva and Clive Nicholas, Reds flyer Eddie Nicholas, Dragons skilful Josh Maui and hard-working Maara Ioakopa, side-stepping Atiu Warrior playmaker Gero Toki and Cowboys speedster Sema Robati back from serious leg injury.

The Bulls will be weakened by the departure of NZ college students James Kora and Jamane Pureau. With it being finals week all teams will be bolstered as they prepare their teams for the marquee event in early November the Cook Islands International Sevens tournament.

So shuffle it to the Avatiu rugby field this weekend for some hard and fast rugby sevens action starting at 2pm.
