The ANZ Tennis in Schools programme is coming to an end for the year as primary schools across Rarotonga will take a break for holidays from December 10.

Junior tennis coach Malcolm Kajer is planning to restart the programme in early February once children are settled back into the 2011 school year.

In January Kajer will start the school holiday tennis programme to be run at the Nikao tennis centre.

Kajer is very grateful to the continued support from ANZ Bank who not only sponsor the tennis in schools programme but they also came to the party to sponsor the East Pacific Junior Tennis tournament earlier in the year and the weekly play and stay tennis tournaments on Saturday.

The play and stay tournament wrapped up last Saturday with Frederick Pickering beating Roland Neururer 6-3, 6-2 in the senior division.

Thomas Vinsen took out the under 14 division after beating opponent Andrew Turepu 7-2, 6-1.

Kajer looks forward to next season’s ANZ mini tennis programme where kids will be getting new ANZ tennis t-shirts.
