Tautu and Amuri-Ureia will face off at Aitutaki next week in the rugby league open men nines grand final.

Tautu will be moving into Wednesdays match with an added confidence after taking a convincing win over Vaipae 42-6 in their semi final clash on Wednesday this week.

Arenikau gave Amuri-Ureia more of a scare in their semi final playoff, with the men of Amuri-Ureia finishing six points ahead of their opposition at the final whistle. The final score in that match was 26-20.

The grand final will be played next Wednesday, January 25, with kick-off at 5.25pm.

Aitutakis younger grades will play ahead of the senior mens match, with the under-13s boys from the east and the west pitting their skills against each other from 4.15pm.

At 4.45pm, the under 18s final will be played between Tautu and Arenikau.

Arenikau beat Vaipae in their semi final match 18-8, with Tautu narrowly pushing out Amuri-Ureia 20-18.

The president of Aitutaki Rugby League, Mona Ioane, said anyone from Rarotonga wishing to watch the match would be welcome to attend.

He put out his thanks to referees Sean and Tua, who travelled over from Rarotonga to Aitutaki to officiate the semi-finals, offering them a big meitaki atupaka for their efforts for the semi finals and coming again next week for the final.

Ioane would to offer to the co-ordinator of the Aitutaki rugby league nines Rere Mataiti and team a big thank you atupaka for a well-organised tournament.

Congratulation also goes to all Clubs and players who participated in the tournament, he said.
