Sports medicine workshop to continue

The sports medicine workshop that opened yesterday continues today at the Sinai Hall in Avarua.

After the opening ceremony of the four-day workshop – sport medicine experts Dr Chris Milne and David Zuger got straight into the hands on workshop.

Yesterday, the pair talked about examination techniques plus proper procedures for dealing with head injuries and concussions.

Today’s workshop will include and morning and afternoon session.

For those athletes, sports managers and administrators who have to work all day – the afternoon session has been organised especially for you to take advantage of the Dr Milne and Zuger’s knowledge.

Today’s morning session will begin at 9am and will start with discussions on periodic health exams, sports nutrition, obesity prevention and asthmatic athletes and sports.

The afternoon session will begin at 4.30pm with topics on the agenda including spinal injuries, shoulder injuries, elbow and wrist injures plus spots and massage therapy.

The workshop will continue tomorrow and Thursday for the final session.

The workshop is for the general public, especially for those involved in sports in some way, shape or form.
