The 2011 Sevens in Heaven was another huge success with the most exciting games in both the mens and womens division seen this year.

While the stars shone on the field with lots of comments about the outstanding womens division spectators also got in amongst the action dressing up to show their support for the three day event.

Saturdays final day of the tournament drew a large crowd to the BCI Stadium and they werent disappointed with the on time games that featured some gutsy tackling, fierce defending, mind blowing break away tries and beautiful tries.

Off the field revellers were as colourful as the action on the field with a Marvel superwomens support group for the Rebels sevens team patrolling the stadium for any unsavoury characters while the Alice in Wonderland crew were always in search adventure.

The Vonnias cops and robbers crew caught the eye but it was the thinking outside the box effort of the Tetris girls that won them the best dressed team of the sevens tournament.

There were famous faces both on and off the field with Super 15 stars carving up the pitch while the legendary former All Black player and coach Buck Shelford rubbed shoulders with admiring fans in the H-zone.

The much needed passing rain showers did little to dampen the spirit of matches on the field or the party atmosphere among the fans.

Next years Sevens in Heaven tournament will have a new look about it with organisers committed to spicing up the tournament with new and improved designated areas for revellers, families and supporters in general.

We share some of the fun and action of the 2011 Sevens in Heaven tournament.
