National sailors Aquila Tatira and Teau Mackenzie, pictured here with their coach and national sailing champion Junior Charlie, will be packing their bags for a trip of a lifetime.

The sailors, along with the national handball team, will be departing today for the Youth Olympics in Singapore.

While the national handball team have been training hard for the Youth Olympics here at home, both Tatira and Mackenzie have been able to check out the sailing course in Singapore during a two week training session there last month as part of their preparations.

Tatira, who is from the Aitutaki Sailing Club, and Mackenzie have had some final technical training over the past few days as they polish up their tactics to take on the best youth sailors in the world.

The entire Youth Olympic team of athletes and officials will depart on this afternoon’s flight.
