It’s crunch time in the CITC club rugby season with the knockout semi-finals to be played this weekend.

Avatiu and Arorangi have secured the venues for this weekend’s games.

Avatiu will host the battle between this season’s first and fourth placed teams across all grades while the second and third placed teams will rumble at Arorangi’s Raemaru Park.

In the A grade division the Avatiu Eels have firmly established themselves as competition leaders winning nine games from 10 this season for a top of the table score of 33 points.

This weekend they will meet fourth placed Ngatangiia Dragons who’ve won three games, drawn one match and lost six for a total of 21 points on the table.

And on top of that – the Dragons have always been a threat to the Eels and will want to cause an upset this weekend.

Meanwhile, 2nd placed Cowboys A grade squad will meet third ranked Titikaveka Bulls in what should be a bruising encounter in Arorangi.

The Cowboys have won seven of their 10 games this season including one draw and just two losses for a total of 31 points on the table.

The Bulls have achieved 23 points this season.

In the Senior B grade the Eels and Bulls will battle it out in Avatiu while the Cowboys and Takuvaine Reds will meet at Arorangi.

In the under 19 grade – top of the table team the panthers (22 points) will meet fourth placed Bulls at Avatiu while the second under 19 clash between 2nd placed Eels and 3rd placed Reds will be played at Arorangi.

The Eels are comfortable top of the table leaders in the under 16 grade and will face off against the 4th placed Dragons at Avatiu while second place getters the Arorangi Cowboys will host the Panthers.

In the under 13 grade, the panthers will want to maintain their unbeaten record this season when they face fourth placed Takuvaine Reds.

In the second and third ranked playoff – the Cowboys will do battle with the Dragons at Arorangi.

It’s going to be an action packed weekend of rugby – so get you village colours on and get out to the fields and support your team.
