The Avatiu swamp will play host for the first week of the CITC pre-season sevens tournament which will run for the next three weeks.

Next week’s games will be played at Tupapa field with the semis and finals to be played in Arorangi the following week.

But all eyes will be on the teams playing at Avatiu tomorrow in the City vs Country format.

Tomorrow’s games will start with the under 9 and 11 boys and girls rippa rugby which will ‘rip’ off at 12.30pm.

This is an open invitation to all parents and tourists with children to bring your kids along to the Avatiu field for the fun rippa rugby matches.

However, you must stay with your children during the hour programme as this is not a babysitting service.

Game one of the sevens tournament starts at 1.30 between Avatiu and Titikaveka in the under 13 grade.

A country vs city women’s rugby sevens match will also feature in Saturday line up of games starting at 4.20pm.

In fact, women’s rugby is set to become a regular fixture on the rugby calendar this season.

The final game of the afternoon will be played at 5.07pm between Avatiu and Arorangi in the senior A division.

Teams have been split into two pools. Pool A includes Avatiu, Titikaveka and Arorangi. Pool B consists of Ngatangiia/Matavera, Takuvaine and Tupapa.

Following is Saturday’s full draw for the first week of the CITC pre-season sevens tournament.
