Road series keeps running

The second road series race, like last week, again had 11 athletes, some of the regulars and some new ones.

For those that had done the previous weeks, only one did not improve significantly.

It seems with no wind present, this may have been the reason.

Roland Neururer had a great run with Scott Howley not too far behind.

The pressure was on from the start and this time Brian Toncray, who was close the previous week, was finding the heat challenging.

Karlene Pynenburg came back and showed her RRRR training is coming along nicely, to take the top spot, comfortably ahead of the other girls.

Her son Jacob was also back, and finishing a good 5km then surprisingly went on to fight out another 3km, to complete his 8km course.

This week will be a little bit of fun, with a handicap race, that is each athlete will depart in order of the slowest first, down to the fastest, and depending on whether you are doing a 5km or 8km run.

Ideally everyone will cross the finish line together. See you there 5.15pm, outside the Kafe Kokonati, Matavera.

August 5 results: (men 8km) – Roland Neururer 31:10, Scott Howley 32:12, Brian Toncray 35:05, Hamish Weir 36:28, Jacob Pynenburg 46:58, (men 5km) – Gregg Young 25:38, Brent Litherland 28:54, (women 5km) – Karlene Pynenburg 28:29, Nerys Case 31:52, Kristin Pietack 31:57, Aurelie Vabnais 31:57.
