Women looking to test themselves on the triathlon circuit can now register their interest and involvement for the seventh annual Island Car & Bike Hire Women’s Triathlon to be held this weekend.

The triathlon is open to both individuals and two or three person teams. The action kicks begins at 3pm at the Tikioki tri site this Saturday, March 24.

Those interested in joining the triathlon are asked to contact Len Edwards on poly@oyster.net.ck before 3pm Friday, March 23.

Participants are asked to include your name, and whether you are doing it as an individual or in a team. If in a team, please give team name and members’ names and which discipline they will be doing.

Competitors are asked to be at the tri site by 2.15pm and bring a $10 fee for each person involved and helmets for the cycling leg of the race. Prizes are promised.

Even though men won’t be taking part in the race, they are encouraged to come along and help out in setting up the course if they would like to or by simply cheering on the women.

After they have finished competing, the women themselves are being encouraged to stay at the site and enjoy a social afternoon with the crowd.
