Another full day of paddling is on the cards today with the mixed round Raro relay and junior open ocean races.

Junior under 19 paddlers will kick start the day’s races with their 15km open ocean race at 8am.

Junior men and women crews will race at the same time while the under 14 and under 16 crews head back to Muri for lagoon races and to finish off the sprint races.

The big race of the day though is the open and mixed masters round Raro relay for the Bob Worthington Memorial Trophy.

This race is scheduled to start at 10.30am and this is the first year that a separate day of racing has been organised for mixed crews.

This division is also tipped to be the fastest growing division on the Vaka Eiva programme with 15 crews to take on today’s round island relay race.

For thrilling race finishes, head to Avarua harbour and cheer on the paddlers.
